I Know It Is Just a Number

Thursday, November 01, 2012

I really lost momentum toward the end of October. Finding out that my scale was 5 pounds lighter than the doctor's office really hit me hard because it means that I'm not really in One-derland as I had thought. I know it is just a number, but One-derland had me walking on air.
Plus the scale hasn't moved in a couple of weeks. And while I'm good on cardio--it has become a well-loved habit, my strength training was slipping.
Today's good news is I'm down an inch in both my waist and hips! Those are numbers that haven't moved in a bit, so that kind of makes up for the plateau. Plus I got a prize for being the one to drink the most water on one of my teams [I would have preferred 'most weight lost' but I'll take what I can get]. And I could do more push-ups and crunches today than ever before!

November goals [basically the same]:
Maintain my weight through visit with cousins, toxic brother and holidays [don't worry about losing, just don't gain]
Keep up the cardio 5 days a week for 30 minutes minimum
ST 2 days a week for 30 minutes
Take 2 rest days from cardio every week [I'm getting older, this really helps]
Keep up the healthy eating

After 5 months on SP seems like I've found my groove. I can keep up this regimen for a long time at home. Because of the stress of travel, difficult relatives and holidays, I'm not going to worry about losing weight the week of Thanksgiving. If I lose, great; but just don't gain. Since I can keep to the healthy eating this shouldn't be a problem.
Keep sparking!

Blessings to you as you strive to meet November's challenges. I know it gets harder as we get older ... believe me, I'm there. But I have to give you a big emoticon for even maintaining 5 days a week cardio. Keep up the good work.

Good for you finding your groove and keep up the good work. For me the greatest successes are those that have been my biggest challenges - holiday and travel eating. Both involve stress, less control over how food is cooked and what is served and both often offer special treats that I don't have to deal with most of the time. Good luck on those - it IS possible to make it through without being miserable OR gaining weight. I have done it this summer.
