3 Weeks? Really!?

Thanksgiving is coming.... emoticon So, we quickly put away Halloween decorations and move on to Thanksgiving preparations. I've always enjoyed planning the feast but any last minute cooking always felt so stressful. I no longer cook a Thanksgiving meal... instead we visit my mother-in-law who is a nursing home patient. The food is not great; but my husband is happy spending time with his Mom. She has Parkinson's Disease. She doesn't really communicate verbally anymore but I know she must be thankful for a loving family. So, that is our Thanksgiving... we're happy & thankful that Mom is still with us. emoticon

Thanks for the reminder (put away Halloween stuff!) Time is flying so fast for me too. I'm taking the whole month of November to focus on gratitude. Spending time with family is always something to be grateful for.

Very special times! I know that you will always be glad that you spent Thanksgiving with them! I have no regrets of the times we spent holidays visiting my grandparents in the nursing home. It was special not only for them, but for the other residents! My parents still live in their own home, but I know how much it means to them for any of the family to spend the holidays with them. Food is definitely not everything - and most of us could do with a lot less of it!!! emoticon

Nice that you spend Thanksgiving that way for now. Seasons come and go in our lives.

we have spent many holidays at the nursing homes visiting my grandparents, everyone was so happy to see my little children dressed up for halloween. or me in my wedding dress when we stopped right after the wedding because my grandparents couldn't attend. We tryed to make the most of it because we knew it meant so much that we could visit, and it cheered others as well. Your mother-in law feels truly special because she has you some people have no one and that is very sad.
