More Than One Way to Skin a Cat

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Having recently joined the Cycling Spark Team, I found myself running out of time to meet the 20 miles/month team goal. With the month drawing to an end, I knew I was short of the goal. Here in piedmont NC, we suffered only minor symptoms (bless you, our Northeastern friends!) spawned by Sandy - ie, wind and a drop in temperature. I was waiting and hoping for a good riding day before month's end, however, the wind continued today - the last day to get in the necessary-goal-meeting-miles. So, I headed to the "Y" and spent an hour on the stationary bike. The view was much less enjoyable, and there was absolutely no wind in my face, BUT, I got in the miles!

I'm investing in some cold weather riding and running gear (thank you ebay!) with the intention of continuing to exercise outdoors as the temperature drops. I'll let you know how that goes!

To those in Sandy's wake, you're in my prayers. God bless you~

I went out and ran yesterday afternoon - I figured I waited long enough so I did it even though the wind picked back up again. I'm still trying to figure out the winter wear myself - I didn't expect to have to deal with it this early.

Good for you for getting it in anyway!

Way to go! emoticon Great job in setting that goal & doing all you can do to reach it. Not loving this cold, windy weather but very grateful that this is all we got from Sandy. Keep setting those goals - hopefully the weather will co-operate for you emoticon emoticon

Way to go and not give up. Hope you had some good music. That is the only way I can stay on the cycle for my 30 minute w/o. I used to read a lot when I used the treadmill but I'm pedaling too fast to try reading while on the bike.
Gonna take a few days off while my friend is visiting. Not sure if I will do more than check in each day but hoping I get a chance to do that. My computer is in the bedroom Kathy will use while she is here, but there will be some times when she is watching TV that I will get a chance to log in.
Hope the weather breaks soon and you can have those breath taking views to see while riding your bike! emoticon
