~Halloween~

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

I will be honest. Halloween has never been my favorite holiday. I like the idea that it's suppose to be a mysterious and magical night. I don't like the fact that it brings out weirdos and creepers. I do enjoy seeing all the costumes and crazy makeup though.

My grandma used to love Halloween but my grandpa passed away early in the morning on Halloween 6 yrs ago. She doesn't do anything for Halloween anymore and that's okay.
I still try to celebrate and do something fun because my grandpa believed that if you loved a holiday, you should still celebrate it even if someone passed on or near that holiday. Sometimes, celebrating or participating in festivities are a way to keep someone's memory alive. :)

My family has also been remembering the advice my grandpa gave us before he passed. He said: DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO WHILE YOU'RE HERE. DO SOMETHING THAT YOU LOVE AND MAKES YOU HAPPY. DON'T THINK YOU CAN'T DO IT. JUST TRY. EVEN IF YOU DON'T SUCCEED YOU AT LEAST KNOW YOU TRIED. IF YOUR NOT HAPPY, DO SOMETHING THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY.

I hope all of you have a fun wonderful night & I hope you love every minute of it but don't forget there is still magic in life even when it isn't Halloween.

Be safe & have fun! :)

Thanks for a good reminder of every day being a happy one if we choose it. A nice thought. I'm so sorry about your grandpa passing and even on Halloween. I've had a tough time with Thanksgiving and Christmas and New Year's because my dear Mama passed away on Nov. 10th, Dad passed away on Dec. 8th, my birthday is Nov. 25th and my husband's is Dec. 6th, so their passing away dates are always in my mind during the holidays, but I know that they would want me to be happy, so that's what I always try to be, even in those couple of months. Halloween has always been mainly a kids thing to us, but it's so fun for the adults to see them and how they look, and to see the joy on thir little faces, etc. I don't like the evil that some people can bring out of Halloween. That's not my cup of tea! We just try to make it fun and happy. You're doing the best thing you can in memory of your dear grandpa! He would've liked that! Happy Halloween to you! emoticon emoticon emoticon I hope that you've been having a good day!

Of course, there's only 365 days in a year. There are 7 billion people in the world. We all share a birthday with others and there are always tragedies and losses on those same days. I think it's a good idea to celebrate Halloween in honor of your Grandpa. It might be too hard on your Grandma, but doing something special in his honor is a good way to keep him in your life.
