Don't Deprive the World

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

I know this really amazing person. He's got everything going for him. He has a beautiful family, he's got a great job, musically talented and many gifts. He frequently gets down on himself. It's easy for me to look from the outside in and wonder how can this be? It looks like everything is as it should be.

Flipside the mirror around and I am looking at me. I am the first one to find so many flaws that most would overlook. Overloaded with flaws to the minutest degree. And then, lately, there is something else. A profound and significant understanding that I am just as remarkably special as those I hold in high esteem.

Here's the thing. We are all beautiful. We all have gifts and contributions to make. If you are not so sure about yourself, think of the world. Don't deprive the world of getting to know you and all that you bring. YOu are just as wonderful, just as giving, just as lovely as the next person.

The world awaits and it is a little more beautiful because you are in it. and me too.

Ah yes, sometimes we are our own worst enemies. Finding self-worth and respecting ourselves helps us to become more aware that WE are just as beautiful as our neighbors!

Great blog! My son needs to read this today. He is so discouraged about not finding a job. He's a wonderful, intelligent person. I wish he could see that about himself.

I have a friend who is ALWAYS down on herself about everything. I feel like I spend most of my time lifting her back up again. But I never put the same effort into lifting myself up. Thanks for pointing out that I need to be positive to myself too : )

That is so true. We are so quick to uplift our neighbor and forget how awesome we are, flaws and all.
