Other goals. Local foods and whole foods.

This past year while I have not been focusing on exercising. I have been focusing on other goals. Like buying local food.
Over the summer hubby and I enjoyed fresh veggies from a local farm through a CSA program. We were pretty happy with it overall, but I'll be giving them feedback on the mix of veggies included each week. It was the farms first year. So on both ends we were newbies. Hubby and I got super bored with beets. We didn't eat them much before the CSA and only about 4 weeks form the end did I learn I could trade for other items.
But overall the experience was good enough that we signed up for a winter CSA at another local farm. We are looking forward to fresh eggs, milk, and meat every two weeks. We will also still get winter veggies and some "fun" items. Sounds awesome! and we can't wait.
I'm currently looking into other CSA's for meat and grain. I'd like to limit our spending at the grocery store and live as much on local, seasonal foods as possible.
This may mean investing in a chest freezer for longer term storage of weekly or monthly deliveries. I'm also learning how to can foods in order to stretch out summer's bounty to the winter months.
Hubby and I are also experimenting with a rice cooker and a bread maker in the past few weeks. Overall we are making more meals. And often cooking together. Yay!
It's just so hard for me to focus on more than one or two things at a time. I've made great progress on our cooking and food buying goals, but lost my exercise and eating in the process. Balance, Balance, Balance, when will I achieve you?
