Hurricane Sandy has sort of dimmed the joy of Halloween for me. We took the decorations in for the storm and I put them out halfheartedly again today. Knowing lives were lost, hearts are broken, homes were swept away, dreams of a lifetime burned, there are millions of people with no electricity, much less all the other problems this storm has caused, makes it sad. My sister finally had her home complete and Hurricane Irene hit New Jersey and now Hurricane Sandy and she has to start over again almost from scratch and yet she HAS something left where many of her friends have NOTHING.
I redecorated because it is my job to be here for the children trick or treating tonight. It is the right thing to do. And yet my heart isn't in it. Not really.
Sandy is a reminder to us that we are never in control. Not really. We are all truly blessed and lucky and I am certainly reminded of that today.
As huge as this storm was, there have been worse that have affected more. And we are lucky and blessed.
Say a prayer for those affected and for the first responders. So many heroes coming forth to help those in need. I made a donation today and still feel I need to "do" something. I think that is our nature.
:::sigh::: God bless everyone touched by Hurricane Sandy.
The show must go on. Happy Halloween dear friends.
Remember that the treats today will haunt you for months to come!
