The Cost of Food in Junk Food Machines

It has been several months since I wanted a snack in the afternoon and I had not brought something from home. But this afternoon I thought I would get a package of pretzels, thought this would do the least amount of damage. Well, was I shocked at the prices. The price of the chips and candy in the machine had jumped at least 10% since May 1. I could not believe that a candy bar cost $1.10. I was not planning to buy a candy bar but I definitely wouldn't when I saw the price. And I refused to pay 75 cents for a bag a pretzels.

The higher cost of junk food will certainly help me stay away from the machines. I will just have to be sure I have a healthy snack in my lunch bag everyday.

What is so sad is that I work at a community college and the junk food machines are the only source of food for our students. At one time we had a cafeteria that served somewhat healthy food. The expense and the high calories are not good for our students!

    I have been a few hotels of late, and I too get that snacky feeling but geez to pay those prices for a non-satisfying thing, yea, not good. Sure wish there were better options.

    Maybe in their Econ class they should teach brown-bagging 101!! those prices are terrible,, all the vendors need is a gun and a mask.
