In need of a little cosmetic work.....

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

on my poor car since a freeken big buck ran into the side of my car last night 5 miles from home. I am fine, did not even need to stop the car. The worst part was I did not even kill it, it just bounced around on the side of my car, then ran off into the woods. If a deer is going to do that much damage to my car, I at least want to harvest the meat. I live in an area where there are too many deer and I see new ones dead on the side of the road every day and think hopefully the person that hit that one is ok and what a waste of good meat. I also feel very lucky since it was a big deer and if I would have hit it head on, I could have been seriously injured and my car been totaled. Luckily I only have a $250 deductible on my insurance but it still bites. Then I saw maybe another 8-9 deer in the 5 miles to my house and there was one doe standing along side the road ¼ mile from my driveway.

So this little incident just reaffirms our plans for hunting season. My hubby or I do not hunt but a friend of my hubby’s hunts close to where we live so we are buying him some tags to harvest some deer for us. There are just too many deer out there plus venison is a good healthy meat.

Next is getting the damage appraiser to come out and take a look at the car and write us a check for the damages, then find a place to fix it.

Oh well, could be worse....

Oh my gosh! An inconvenience however good news is your vehicle is still drivable and you're okay.

I am just glad you are OKAY!! Holy cow. We, too, live in a high deer area with "Don't Veer for Deer" signs everywhere. When I lived on the west side of our town, there wasn't a day that went by that I didn't see a deer carcass on the way to school (or was held up in traffic because of a new hit).

One year, our Wilderness Survival teacher got wind of a "fresh kill" on the road outside the school. He is an avid deer hunter. He grabbed some kids who were interested in learning how to gut a deer and they went to work. He went home with a freezer full of deer meat and some for the kids that wanted to try it.

Crazy, huh? Sorry about the car but mostly happy you are okay. I've known people badly injured and one gal who was killed by a deer just after she crossed the Mackinac Bridge into the UP en route to go see her husband who was in prison in Marquette!

I'm glad you are ok & didn't even need to stop. I think my heart would have been pounding so hard I would have needed to, lol.

A few weeks ago hubby & I were running in the dark early one morning & some deer jumped across the road about 30 ft in front of us. Scared me to death. If we had been just a little faster that day we would have been run over.

So glad no one, including the deer was hurt or killed.
Stinks that you have damage to the car.
But that can be fixed.

If there are alot of deer in your area, they make these little things you attach to the front of the car, they make a slight sound that we can't really hear but the deer can, and they run away.

Good luck with the face lift for the car.

Yikes...glad it didn't shatter the windshield or door glass. Things can be repaired...bodies...not so easily...

There are a lot of deer around here. My car hit one, but it was when it belonged to my daughter. So far I've been lucky. Startled some in the backyard when I got home last night, but that was on foot. Sorry you have to go through this!

Oh noooo! Poor deer! POOR CAR!!! You are so fortunate. Deer accidents kill so many people. My Dad lives in a heavy populated deer area. Scary! So glad you are okay.

What a bummer. Looks like my neighbor's car -same thing. One of my friends is happy if she can make it until spring with only hitting 2. Last year it was 4. She's a deer magnet. I almost crashed with one while riding my bike at high speed downhill. That was scary! Deer are stupid. Glad you were not injured and hope your repairs are quick and cheap.

    Glad you are ok!

We have a lot of deer accidents in the Twin Cities also. There are a lot of them around.
