Plans changed when necessary...no trip to Philadelphia at the moment

Tuesday, October 30, 2012

Superstorm Sandy is causing/going to cause problems for many, many people. The problem for us at the moment is very minor. Ken was supposed to go to the Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philadelphia today for his appointment tomorrow afternoon. However with the storm and the unknown going to happen and after many prayers, Ken decided that he would reschedule his appointment to later in the month. We are now waiting for the call back for the rescheduled appointment with his surgeon. It is for his two year checkup. It seems totally impossible that two years have passed since his breast cancer diagnosis and his complete mastectomy.
I just wish they would add men to their commercials on breast cancer. Some men would never pay attention and get the medical help they need in time. Cancer discriminates against no one!!!
God is great and life is grand!!! Praise the Lord for all He has done and continues to do in our lives. Trials and tribulations are minor when God is working with us and through us!!! Have faith and trust in the Lord for He knows what His plans are for each of us and what our actual needs are. Remember to hug your loved ones and share your smiles daily.
Blessings, love and hugs,
Helen

POSITIVES ALWAYS:

FAITH
HOPE
LOVE
FREEDOM
PRAYERS and PRAYER WARRIORS
BLESSINGS AND ANSWERED PRAYERS

ACCEPTANCE
Thankful for each new day that I am given!!!
Unexpected twists and turns in our lives
God is in the "miracle" business!!!
Shannon's eyes are continuing to heal. Another miracle!!!
Wonderful doctors and hospitals
So glad we didn't go to Philadelphia today!!!
Thank you, Lord, for your guidance in this matter.
Schools on 2 hour delays and cancellations for tomorrow
Snow at the ski resorts in southern PA and West Virginia
Too many positives and blessings to list them all here...Praise the Lord!!!

Helen - I hear you loud and clear. I know a man who had breast cancer and he is not the lony one. They need to be made more aware of it.

    Helen,

Very wise to change the appointment. This has been a terrible storm. Couldn't believe last night.

Hope that you are safe and sound. Keeping you all in my prayers and sending extra hugs.

Great choice - especially since no one up in PA or nearby, really, is prepared to deal with this type of storm (actually, since it's a Super Storm now & not a hurricane, I don't think ANYONE is prepared to deal with it!). Thankful Ken has remained cancer free & praying he will continue to be.

Hugs to both of you!

Love,

Kerolyn

Good to hear your update, though NOT good that the visit has to be postponed. Better safe than sorry, though.

HUGS and prayers for you both.

Thanks for enlightment on breast cancer in men. Don't know anyone personally who has gone through this, but, have heard it mentioned on TV health topics. My prayers go out to all cancer victims. We have experienced this personally and saw the results in 2001 and 02. So glad you chose to reschedule the appointment. Be safe is always a good choice. emoticon

Helen, every October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, our local Orlando Sentinel newspaper runs daily stories of breast cancer survivors. It wasn't until I read this message of yours that I realized there have never been any men profiled. I'll write the editor making the suggestion men not be overlooked next year.

Two weekends ago I bowled in a tournament to raise funds for the Susan G. Komen foundation. While there, on behalf of our local bowling association, I sold lapel pins of a bowling pin wrapped with a pink ribbon, with all funds going to the foundation. I approached one young twenty-something man who wanted to buy some pins. As I talked with him he told me they were for him and his father who was going in two days later for his second breast removal. Tears were in his eyes as we talked about how so many people do not realize that men get breast cancer, too.

Between the two of you, I have had my eyes opened. Continued prayers and positive thoughts for you and Ken. Has it really been two years now? -- Lou

Definitely a wise decision Helen, stay safe.

You're so right about Breast Cancer- maybe if more men were in the ads they'd consider checking themselves more too!!

A wise decision to changed his appointment til latter on. Stay safe, warm and indoors. No use on being on the roads with Storm Sandy tearing up the Eastern Coast of the USA. It is way to dangerous. God Bless You and DH. Enjoy Your Day. Take Care.

    Definitely a wise decision.

I think you are right about men should be added to commercials about breast cancer. Most men just turn their attention elsewhere if they don't think it applies to them.

Wise descision. Everyone should be staying home with supplies and safety. You are so right that men's breast cancer needs to be more publicized! You hear nothing what so ever on it!! Cancer is such an insidious disease, sparing no one, man, woman or child. Its why we must keep up the good fight and support cancer research so that someday we may find a cure for this dreaded disease. Trusting that Ken will remain cancer free.
My thoughts are with you and everyone dealing with that storm..

Please be safe and glad to hear you chose to delay the appointment. No sense in taking needless chances and if things are bad enough, the dr might not even be in. Here is to a healthy checkup.

Pat
