1 Lord, how many are my foes!
How many rise up against me!
2 Many are saying of me,
“God will not deliver him.”
3 But you, Lord, are a shield around me,
my glory, the One who lifts my head high.
4 I call out to the Lord,
and he answers me from his holy mountain.
5 I lie down and sleep;
I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
6 I will not fear though tens of thousands
assail me on every side.
7 Arise, Lord!
Deliver me, my God!
Strike all my enemies on the jaw;
break the teeth of the wicked.
8 From the Lord comes deliverance.
May your blessing be on your people.
King David wrote this psalm as he was fleeing for his life from his own son, Absalom. However, as I re-boot my healthy lifestyle, I saw this Psalm with new eyes, a new personal application. I re-read it through the lens of the "foes" being my old habits, the old mental self-destructive scripts in my head, and my laziness.
Go back and re-read it.
What are the foes you are facing which are keeping you (and me) from being what we were created to be?
You and I were created for so much more than THIS battle. THIS battle is just one of Satan's tools to keep us too busy to fight the REAL battle.
It's time for the Lord's deliverance! You only have to cry aloud for His deliverance!
Do you REALLY want deliverance? REALLY?!?!? It will require change. Change is scary. Are you ready? REALLY ready?
