MIL had a good 6 days where she seemingly was recovered from all her ailments. In fact, a hospice nurse came to evaluate her and deemed she wasn't bad enough for Hospice yet. Then Saturday, hubby was gone to the FSU football game and I was at a sewing workshop all day. When I got home at 3:00. SHe was asleep, hadn't eaten lunch that was sitting ready for her and said she wasn't feeling well. She was weak and having trouble breathing and I almost called 911 not knowing what was going on. But I put her to bed with her oxygen and she said she was feeling better.
Sunday morning at 5:00 we hear her yelling. Hubby got her up to go to the bathroom and she started gasping for breath. Could not even get up off the toilet. So we called 911. ANd off the hospital she went winding up in CCU. They said they would keep her 3 or 4 days and yesterday she had recovered somewhat. Her left leg is swollen and red as it gets that way periodically.
So that was our weekend. I guess we are going to have episodes of this off and on. From good to bad. I'm going to call the hospice nurse today and tell her she was a week early.
The most complaining MIL did in the hospital was that they hadn't fed her. When she stops eating, we will know that is the end.

Oh, it is so difficult, for her and for you. I don't know if it's much consolation, but you are doing the right thing - taking care of her at this stage of her life. You're in my T&P, hon...

Sorry to hear about your bad weekend with MIL but you did have 6 good days. Hate to say but that is the way it goes--good day/bad day. Sending prayers your way. Remember to take time for and care of yourself. (((HUGS)))
