Preparing for Sandy... in Ohio.

Monday, October 29, 2012

So they are predicting that we will be having hurricane force winds here in Ohio. Last time that happened was September 2008, and I was w/o power for 7 days. I wasn't the only one w/o power either. Most of the people in my area were w/o power. So I'm hoping this isn't going to be a repeat of Ike in 2008... but if it is, we have some plans laid out for survival!!

I also wanted to share a couple of interesting articles MSN had this morning, that I found interesting!

For everyone's sake I hope it isn't even a fraction as bad as what the "news" has been hyping the last week.

Of course, I am somewhat biased as this type of storm never hits SE Michigan. Last year they were forecasting a world-ending blizzard...houses were supposed to be buried for who knows how long, there would be mass famine and cannibalism, zombies, basically all civilization would end with this storm. We got less than a handful of inches of snow, which melted quickly. No one lost power, no one ate their children to avoid starvation. Walmart did sell out though so at least something came of all the dire warnings. emoticon

Let's hope Hurricane Sandy is more of the same, nothing but a tease!

When Ike blew through in '08, we were without power for 8 days, so I'm right there with you! We stocked up on bottled water, batteries, and protein bars for this go around.

Stay safe...I hope the storm isn't as bad as they're saying. Kids are off from school today and will definitely be out tomorrow too. I work for the electric company here in southeast/southcentral PA so I can say for sure that the linemen and office workers are preparing like crazy for the impact. And they're calling in crews from all over the place to help out and they're already here waiting for the impact.

Stay Safe, my kids went to school today but it has already been cancelled for tomorrow. I went to town and got a kerosene heater just in case we lose power, other than that I think we are ready.

It's raining here in NJ but the winds are just starting to pick up here. It might gust up to 60 mph today!

What's hilarious about it is our dog doesn't want to go outside... we had to MAKE him walk around go he would go #2, he just kept wanting to go back inside where it's warm and dry, lol.
