I decided to push myself sat & go for somewhere between 11-12 miles; ended up running 11 1/2 miles plus a warmup & cool down, not to mention walking the dogs that morning. Normally i'd have DH walk the dogs, but he was working on the lawn.
We were all set to go out for a nice sushi dinner afterwards . . . only I was tired & really not hungry. We didn't go out: I had a challah roll & a little dark chocolate for dinner.
Before you worry I wasn't refueling properly, I ate half a honeystinger waffle before the run; 2 GUs during; half a serving of PB pretzels & a honeystinger bar afterwards.
The run itself went pretty well. I was tired & achy afterwards, but not sore - walked the dogs the next morning (while DH was sleeping).
So we figured we'd go out to dinner the next night . . . our friends were supposed to come up from NYC to visit (found out about that sat!). I went out & spent 2 hrs grocery shopping -- was hoping by going early I'd miss the crowds & mostly did. I hate shopping on weekends, but with friends coming & Sandy forecasted to come too . . . had to be done. When I got home I found out the friends decided to stay in the city due to the storm & will maybe come later this week.
But at least I got to relax the rest of the day & now have a lot of food in the house . . . but when dinner time rolled around I just wasn't feeling great. Nope, I never got my sushi.
I don't actually run so that I can eat more . . . it's just a side benefit of those really long runs (once I ge up around 8+ miles).
We ended up ordering Chinese. I'm not really terribly fond of Chinese, but DH is & I figured I could really use the veggies, even tho I'd had a salad for lunch. I got tofu veggie soup, veggie steamed dumplings & my one indulgence: a veggie egg roll. I haven't had an egg roll in yrs . . . frankly would've preferred lo mein, but then I'd have leftovers.
It just seemed like such a waste of running 11 1/2 mies . . . no sushi, no indulgent dessert . . . you can tell I'm not feeling well!
