Week 11 of Marathon Training

Had a great and interesting week! Had 3 easy runs ranging between 3-5 miles, an interval run and a long run. Easy runs are usually pretty easy but my 5 mile run was rough. Legs felt like lead. I've heard that usually one run a week can be rough and this was it. Thank goodness it was an easy run, went really slow. I was so proud of my interval run. Coach had me do 4-3 minute intervals at a "moderate hard" pace. Was able to do each one around 7:35 and felt great. It was definitely challenging but I enjoyed it. I've typically done my interval/speed training on the treadmill but since the weather is FINALLY cooling off, I did it outside on my street and loved it! My long run today was 17 miles. I had a great plan! Our first Half of the season is my area was today, the Halloween Halfathon, so I planned to get there at 6am, run my 4 miles then do the race and be done. Well, hubby came with me for support and I did my 3.9 miles and was ready for the Half to start in less than 10 minutes, then checked my phone and my Mom had text me that my Stepfather was in critical condition at the hospital (has heart & kidney issues), so we left and drove the hour to the hospital. Fortunately, he was stable when we got there. We stayed for a while, then went home. I figured my coach would forgive me for not doing the entire run, based on the circumstances, but I went ahead and ran in my neighborhood and did my 13.1 miles and felt great.

Finished my 3.9 in 35 minutes and my 13.1 in 1:58 so I was pretty happy to have averaged just over a 9 minute mile for a long easy run! So I got my 17 Miles in!!! Next week, I'll be pacing the Savannah Half Marathon (2:30 group) and on Sunday doing a 6 Mile Tempo run. Enjoying my training and thankful for every day.

My Stepfather is doing okay this evening, praise Yahweh. Be thankful for every day you have and never hesitate to tell the people you love that you love them. You never know when it's the last time, and you don't want to have regrets! Share love and thankfulness!

    Tia, glad to hear that your stepfather is OK and that you STILL managed to get your run in! WTG, that is dedication!

How did you get involved with pacing? I would love to do that someday.

And you and Johnny are just too cute together! He is a handsome man!

    You are a strong runner!! I didn't know you were planning on the Halloween Half. It was pretty dark at the park at 6:00 A.M. when I arrived. Sorry you had to leave, but am glad to hear your stepfather is doing okay.

Good job completing the day's mileage and....
