I finally stopped procrastinating and did my 3.1 mile walk around Granite Lake in Nelson, NH by myself. It wasn't easy but I had set it as one of my goals to complete in 2012. Halfway around, I almost turned around and went back to where I started but then I got realizing that if I am half way already and turned around and went back then I could of just kept going and completed the walk. Better to keep going and have an accomplishment rather then feel like a quitter. Slow and steady was my pace and I had all afternoon to complete it. When I got back to the beginning, I felt a real surge of pride. I thought it wasn't too bad for an overweight 60 year old woman if I did say so myself.
I felt so motivated after that walk that I decided to stop at Pitcher Mountain and hike up to the fire tower. Now, this is straight up, rocky, dirt, grass and slippery going. I had to rest quite a few times but I was determined I was going to make it or else. When I looked up and saw the fire tower ahead of me, I knew I could do it!! Once I reached the top, the view was well worth the effort. I could see for many miles across many hills. On the way down, I had to be very careful where I stepped because the footing was slippery and I didn't need to roll all the way down the mountain. lol It was actually easier going down then up! lol Upon reaching the parking lot at the beginning of the trail, I felt like I could walk and hike everywhere but knew that I better quit while I was ahead. lol I learned to never ever give up no matter how hard the going gets. Always look towards your goal and in no time you will arrive there.
