with the storm approaching it does not look good for my area. we had to skip paying bills this month and put our money into emergency supplies in case the electricity goes out . could be up to 9 days. the last time it went out this summer it was for 2 days 5 for others. suppose to hit Sunday evening so this morning im going to go out and get some last minute stuff. with living in the blue ridge mountains they can not predict our weather . some times the mountains shield us other times it makes things worse especially when a cold front comes in. so we are expected to have high winds that will knock out the power rain for flooding then a cold front for snow. But they can not say how much until we are in the thick of it. I really wish we had a generator but we are going to have to make due without one and put that on the Christmas list.
I have plenty of stuff for the baby formula baby food water diapers and wipes , for us i got soups water crackers rice beans canned meats peanut butter, bread. but the more i look at the weather the worse it looks so i'm going to run out and get some more . It was funny when i was buying canned meats i was looking at the label thinking this has too much sodium then I was like really this is for a emergency and you are worry about sodium. we have 15 gal of kerosene for heat and cooking. i have the deep freezer packed so it will stay cold longer. we have batteries flashlights candles and lighters i have washed up all the dirty clothes and dishes learned that one from last power outage oh and have extra baby wipes to use to clean us with if needed. i've had to spend 300.00 in stuff and can only hope that is enough.
I guess I shouldn't wine about the money it will put us behind but at least i had it to spend other people are not as fortunate.
Will post how we made out when everything is over ...

Hopefully you won't lose power, but if you do then you at least you are prepared. We've lived in our house since Nov '06 and it seems like since May '09 we always lose power over the slightest wind. Not sure why it changed after 3 years. When Irene hit we lost it for a day and my son didn't have school. It'll be interesting to see if my boys have school tomorrow, if they'll do an early dismissal or just wing it and see how the weather plays out. Stay safe!

Good luck to you and I'm praying for all those that will be affected. Who knows what lies ahead except God. We've weathered numerous hurricanes and tropical storms. The topic of conversation at parties can evolve around "where were you when Opal hit?" Or whatever the current storm is. Wishing you well and good to stock up on those supplies.

Sending you tons of encouragement. You seem to have everything organized precisely so. Don't worry about your bills for the meantime as the safety of you and your family as you is far more important. Wishing you safety and the best of luck through this terrible ordeal.... emoticon
