Special Olympics horse show

Saturday, October 27, 2012

So today we finally had the horse show we've been preparing for! It was awesome! The turnout today was just unbelievable! Soooo many more supporters than last year!

My girl rode in the first independent class. She was the 5th rider in the class. Her freaking horse decided to try to eat the flags! Her instructor came over to grab the flags away from the horse so he had to stick his nose in the bucket to look for something else! Ugh! Then she was so distracted by that and by the crowds and me standing there taking pictures that she knocked down a pole taking a tight turn. She ended up placing last in her class. My poor baby girl. She told me she wants to move away to somewhere nobody knows what happened because she's so embarrassed. I tried telling her how proud I am of her and how her placement doesn't matter to me but she was so disappointed emoticon

By the time we left I was so beat I just wanted to go home but she really wanted to go to my parents' house for dinner. So we went over there for a while and Mom and Dad made tacos (my girl's first choice almost always!). I found a can of tuna and some multigrain bread emoticon .

When we got home I realized I'd only had 2 cups of water, walked less than 2000 steps, and hadn't had a workout all day! Well, 40 minutes of jogging in place emoticon and 6 cups of water later I felt a whole lot better emoticon

But now it's almost 1130 pm and I still have a task to finish before bed so I'm going to move on with that and then emoticon Good night!

Tell her that all horse riders go through days like that!! Sometimes you cannot control what your silly horse will decide to do that day!! She's got that behind her, and next time she will do better!!!

Maybe it will help to remind her that someone has to be last just like someone has to be first. But getting out there and doing it was such an accomplishment! There are other people who would be too afraid to even try. Plus how many times did she do it well in practice? It's not her fault the horse made a mistake, and the horse deserves forgiveness for his/her mistake.
