A quickie

Thursday, October 25, 2012

Recently, on a message board post or a blog, someone (my memory is shot this week) was venting about how people comment about her (I'm pretty sure it was a she) weight loss and give some really backhanded compliments. Things like "You look too skinny"
I responded that I must have the most supportive and positive friends and family because they NEVER say things like that.
Today, one did. She looked at me, asked how much I lost so far and then told me I have lost too much. What??? My BMI still classes me as obese!
She said it again when we were leaving the job tonight "Don't lose any more weight!"
I responded in the same sort of spirit: "I'm going to lose plenty more and you can stuff it!" emoticon

Strange. People are strange. The first thought that always pops into my mind when i hear a comment like this is whether the commenter is jealous or threatened in some way? Or maybe playing with you? Nice reaction on your part, though ;)

ps. thanks for the goodie love and comments and all...i'm so flattered!

Sometimes people say things without thinking. They might have good intentions, but in the end it is your body. It makes me mad that there are people who always judge others or try to make health or body image decisions for them. So you did the right thing and you can be proud of everything. emoticon emoticon

You must be in a better position than most. Friends are saying you are losing too much weight and your BMI is still out of whack. I am not a friend of that index as a true indicator of anything. If you are of perfect height and weight, you may be in the range. I lost much weight and was not fitting in the BMI. Looked at the chart after this great weight loss, and learned I had to lose way to much more.
