I have gained 15 pounds since May 1 of this year. I started dating someone, we'd go out to eat a lot, I didn't spend much time working in the garden/yard or getting out exercising. He's in front of his computer and I'm on either my iPhone or iPad. I've neglected my garden so I've lost a lot of produce that I could have put away for the winter. It was my choice to spend time with him instead of in the garden, since he wouldn't come over to the house.
It's time to make changes!
This week I've started making a focused effort to cut back/out my meat ingestion and focus primarily on ovo-lacto (cheese) vegetarian diet. I want to move away from the eggs and cheese by the first of the year.
After a sinus headache bordering on migraine, I've decided to cut artificial sweeteners out of my diet again. I'd had three coke zeros earlier in the day and am wondering if that jacked up my headache. No high fructose corn syrup or other processes sugars starting the first of the year.
My sleep patterns have been all over the place. Time to get back in to a regular routine: up at five and in bed by nine. No coffee after noon!
Speaking of coffee, to help cut expenses and get better sleep, once my current stash of coffee runs out, I'm switching back to green teas. The antioxidants will help too. I can do herbal teas after noon.
For the next two weeks I will keep a food/exercise/stress journal and then make an appointment to see the nutritionist at work.
Things to consider:
-cycling for transport to extent practical
-smoothies for snacks or breakfast
-morning walk/jog on treadmill for 30 min
-steps > 10,000/day
My main motivation? I do not want diabetes! I want to live a healthy lifestyle and have more energy and improve my depression.
I will check in on Nov 10 and evaluate my progress. I will schedule it on my calendar so I won't forget.
