Medium Auburn Brown... NOT!!

Thursday, October 25, 2012

So says the hair color package. Instead, I'm living with a dark reddish purplish mess but, believe it or not, I have received compliments. People are nice... I'm gradually getting used to the color but still not my preference. It will be interesting to see how it changes over the next few weeks. emoticon emoticon

I think it sounds like fun. Maybe lots of hair washing?

I stay away from the reds for good reason.

Was as my hairdress Tuesday and told her I wanted the medium auburn brown, that my hair was a bit too red. She put some chocolate (which the chocolate on my daughter is black) and told me thought I would not be happy, that it would be too dark on me. After all was said and done she could not believe it did not come out much darker than when we started. She said you do not take color very quickly. I am happy, I went for over 7 years without color and I will not do that again. I just enjoy not being gray white anymore.

sounds almost like the color i used to get when i did my own, I loved it. the most horrendous hair color carrot red i mean bright orange , that was from sun in hair color at the beach with no mirror. went to stylist to fix it my natural haircolor which is brown with red highlights and it came out jet black. so i went from bozo the clown to mortica adams in one day. not happy

Yes, sometimes the color isn't the same as the box promises. Of course, it depends on some of the strands of natural color in your hair and undertones. It is great that you are getting compliments. It probably looks better than you realize.

I think we all have had a color mishap. Some of mine have been baby chicken yellow instead of white, jet black vs medium brown and all shades of red. I stick to henna or John Freida hair glaze in brunette.
At least you have compliments on yours!

Believe it or not, I had a big hair disaster myself. I went to a new place to just get my roots touched up and they completely changed my hair color. It cost me $150 to get it fixed!! Lesson learned. Maybe you will find you love this new color. I think it sounds pretty :)

I had that happen to me one time. I ended up with copper colored highlights. By the time I could afford to do anything I'd grown used to it. I haven't used anything other than henna rinses since.

If you look around, you see many interesting color combinations. There are those who spend a great deal of money to get those results. My suggestion is to act as though you wanted it to be that color. Play the part, and as you say, see what happens. emoticon

Oh, that happened to me once too! I didn't realize how much of a red undertone I had to my hair... until the color pulled it all out! I ended up with cherry-wood red hair-- really good color for some people, but not for me. At least you know you're pulling it off well! Thanks for a fun story today. emoticon

I feel your pain. I tried a medium auburn on my naturally blonde hair and it ended up looking black. That was not a good look. emoticon
