Midway Through BLC20

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

Here we are halfway through and it's time to look at where I am!

I completed my 5K Walk on Saturday. When I started Spark, it was my goal to be able to walk 3 miles without stopping and I finally did it!

That being said, I have had to cut back on my daily exercise time for two reasons. The first one is that my knee started acting up so I backed off the exercising and it really helped. The second is that my dh (who is disabled) requires more daily care so I just don't have the time. 60-90 minutes 6 days a week is doable for me.

This has been a good BLC for me to help me stay focused and maintain my weight loss. Thank you all for being here, especially the Panthers!

Lizzie, you're doing GREAT!!! Congrats on doing the 5K -- that had to have felt good, knowing that you DID it!

60-90 minutes, 6 days a week is admirable...I think you're awfully smart to recognize the importance of taking care of YOU so you can continue to take good care of your DH. He's a lucky, lucky man!

emoticon on the 5K. I did my first one in April and felt great doing it. It was for Alzheimer's, and I felt good doing it because my father had Alzheimer's. He passed away last month, but at the time he was living in an assisted living facility for Alzheimer's patients, and the facility was one of the sponsors.

You are to be commended for having a fitness plan while taking care of your DH, even if it isn't as robust as you would like.

Congratulations on making the 5 K! I've had knee problems as well and am mostly doing other kinds of exercise now - water aerobics and bicycling on a recumbent or stationary bike. There are some great exercises on Spark People that have helped me! Let me know if you want me to send you the link.

I think I'm capable of walking 3 miles without stopping, but definitely not running! Congratulations for all your hard work and the results!
