Did some garden clean up

Tuesday, October 23, 2012

On Sunday and after work yesterday I did some garden cleaning. My bulb bed was a mess..neglected for a few seasons. I dug it all up and replanted the best looking bulbs. Sadly I accidentally destroyed some of my tulip bulbs with my shovel and pitch fork. I tried to be more careful after that by hand digging down deep.

Here is a before picture.

Here is an after picture.

I still need to cover it with some leaves which I'll be getting from my yard today or tomorrow. It feels really good to get that done.

Yesterday, I gave two rhododendron plants a major trimming. My arms are a little sore today from that work out. The plants may not be pretty again for a couple more years, but that's OK. They will be fine in the long run and not be so out of control.

Happy gardening!! emoticon

Gardening is so very rewarding! I mowed grass today, and even that -- boring as it is -- was rewarding. :D

It's that time of year! I did a bunch of bulb planting last week too. It had been a while.

Great job! Bulbs popping up in the spring are some of my favorite things about gardening!
