Where I am now.....10/22/12

Monday, October 22, 2012

It's been a while since I have been on SP. I know SP is a supportive, motivating place that assists me in making healthy choices. And I am back!

The last several months have been somewhat stressful and I have put SP on hold. Last spring I was working hard. I was prepared to run my second 10 K race on 5/5/12. The day before this race my husband had a heart attack. My husband is only 45 years old. I had been eating quite healthy for the past 2 years. After the heart attack, my husband willingly adopted eating healthier foods. He started to exercise. He also switched primary care doctors. His new doctor had some additional concerns about his health. And, in September he was diagnosed with a type of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. His prognosis is good. The doctor believes that inflammation from the lymphoma may have actually contributed to the heart attack. In the end, the heart attack was somewhat of a blessing in disguise. It led to detection of an underlying condition that needs (and is now getting) attention.

My husband has become more focused on his health and one would imagine I should be losing weight. But, I have gained weight! Stress? Less sleep? (I have had many sleepless nights related to worrying). Less time for running & exercise? Not tracking my foods?

I refuse to beat myself up over my weight gain. But, I know I need to take care of myself again.

I am back on SP.

I will track my food.

I will exercise 3-4 days each week. I will focus on my favorites: running, yoga, walking, swimming.

I will get at least 7 hours of sleep ech night.
