Costume contests and Car accidents

Monday, October 22, 2012

We got the costumes all done Saturday morning. They looked great! Here is a link of the video M put together for our costumes.

On the way home from the contest... a lady ran a red light and hit the passenger side of my vehicle. I was driving. It terrified me. Everyone was OK. Not so much as a scratch. My Ford Explorer is bit of a tank. I have good, full coverage insurance, so it should be OK. I am waiting to hear back from the insurance company to know what will happen. Pretty sure it is totaled due to the frame damage, and the fact that even though it is in great condition, it is a 14 year old vehicle.

I am now a bit paranoid about dressing up and heading to the costume contest we have slotted to go to this weekend. Imagine the young woman's surprise when she saw all the fake blood of our zombie costumes, and thought she had hurt my kids. I felt so bad for her. She insisted that her light was green, but I knew ours was. When I got out of the vehicle, I was in shock, and kept saying over and over, my light was green. The only thing that pulled me out of it was hearing V's cries. But bottom line... no one was hurt.

So much for an exciting weekend huh?

I am so glad that everyone is ok. Hope things go better with you. Make sure to check with doctor if V was sitting in back seat on passenger side. Take Care. Hope you hear something from Insurance.

It's hard. Sometimes our senses just mislead us. When I had that car accident in May, I could have sworn my light was green. I'm a really, really good driver and had never been an accident before that was my fault (my only other accident was 15 years before and the other person's fault). When I saw the other vehicle barrelling at me when I crossed through the intersection, my first thought was "they're running the red light!" Then I looked up and saw that it was *my* light that was red, and realized I was the one running it. But I could have sworn that moments before, it had been green! I was obviously wrong, but I can see why the lady who hit you might have been confused. Were there any witnesses to come forward? I hope she doesn't make any issues with the insurance. I know how you feel about the car. My van in May was 12 years old but in perfect condition. In fact, before we'd gone out, I'd just lectured one of my kids on how it was important not to close the door too hard, because we wanted to keep the car nice as long as possible...

Sorry to hear about car accident, but glad everyone is ok minus some zombie blood. I cannot even imagine what went through the other person's mind seeing zombies after hitting you. Cannot wait to see th video of your computer is restricting seeing it now.

I am so glad everyone is OK. What a scare. I hope the kids are OK, not just physically.

Hope that back pain at a "5" lessens....
