Resetting trackers - should I be doing this?

Sunday, October 21, 2012

I've missed my goal more than a few times now. When that happens, I reset my goal (lose lbs by date), usually trying for a rate of 5 lbs/month. As a result, the food allowed in the nutrition tracker increases. Is this the right thing to do? Or should I just leave the tracker settings alone even if/when I am beyond my goal date and did not make my goal? If so, is there a way to set them back to the original defaults?

Not that I need to worry about passing my goal date again...I can do it, and I WILL do it!

STARLIGHT05 gave a great explanation. Nothing else to add.

Hello! The food allowed in the nutrition tracker is based on your current weight and how much & how quickly you want to lose. So if your weight has gone up, it's okay for the nutritional goals to go up too.

If you find those goals aren't working for you though, you can change them. Go to the main SparkPeople page, and just below where it says "XXX Calories Remaining to Eat Today", there's a link that says "Change Goal" - you can manually adjust how many calories, grams of fat, etc. you want to aim for.

I miss my goals a lot too, but I'm on a specific diet plan from my doctor, so every time I change my goal I have to input that information again. I still like having a goal to aim for, though!

Hopefully this helps.. haha.
