Anniversary Weekend

Sunday, October 21, 2012

How different our anniversary weekends have turned out. We used to do things like... go out of town to a little B&B... or spend the weekend in a jacuzzi suite right here in town. This year, we spent all morning at the kid's cross country race and all afternoon at the fall festival... and I wouldn't have changed a thing.

Saturday, however, was a little more grown up. We got to go to dinner, and spend the evening alone watching movies while my mom had the kids. This morning, we got to have breakfast WITH our coffee, and no one was fussing about not wanting to eat what I made. How dare I make eggs, and poatoes when all anyone should want is cereal and peanut butter toast???

So this morning, after a delicious breakfast, we went and got the kids for their first race.

pre race

Jake finished his mile in 12:01

and Katy finished hers in 14:53

post race with their ribbons... I didn't get a pic of their post race feast... pizza, cookies and orange drink, oh my!

After the race we went to the fall festival. It's a "free" festival that ended up costing us about $15, lol! It's not a ton of money, but when something is supposed to be FREE, you shouldn't chrarge for the "cool" extras. You know, face painting, hot cocoa and pumpkin carving. ALL the things the kids just HAD to do, lol! They do have lots of free activities like witches hat ring toss, pumpkin bowling, crafts, and a hayride. All the games come with candy prizes and who doesn't love a hayride?

Katy loved her butterfly, but Jake wouldn't do it. He's more of a bowler...

there were pumpkin guts everywhere...

popcorn witches hands...

and lots of hot cocoa

Today is our acutual anniversary, and some people might not think this is great way celebrate 12 years of marriage, but I had a pretty good time!

I think celebrating your anniversary with your husband is the best way to spend a day and then to have a great time with the kiddo's what could be better. Our 9th anniversary was on the 10th and we spend the morning sitting down by the lake with some hot chocolate and our books, then we drove to spokane and went to a little wine tasting place and then picked up our son from preschool (yes we sent him to school and went and had some fun) and took him with us to dinner. IT WAS PERFECT. Happy anniversary to you....may there be many more filled with happy memories and with your loved ones. emoticon

What a fun way to spend time together!

After 23 years and 4 marriages (to each divorces...we are just wacky) we don't do a huge thing for the anniversaries.

Happy anniversary! It's funny how our ideas of fun and celebration change through the years. It's a great thing you had the best of both worlds. Fun with the family and a little private time for the two of you.
The fall festival looks like so much fun!
Enjoy your night and many wishes for a lot of beautiful and loving years for the two of you together!

first off, happy anniversary! :) Second, I think this is a great way to celebrate! I miss real fall festivals and pumpkin patches and all that from up north! It's still so hot here! Been around 90 the last few days. :( Of course, it's going to get cold jsut in time for my 5K this Sunday, haha! Supposed to be 40 degrees! And raining. Gah. Ah well, at least it'll feel like fall! Which, speaking of, looking at your page makes me think it's time for an overhaul on mine. I need to update from late summer to fall now. And this comment has been scattered all over the place...

That sounds like a pretty good celebration to me! For our anniversary, Ken and I both worked, then he took the boys to football practice and went to darts. We didn't see each other at all! But my birthday was a few days earlier and we went to a move and then dinner as a family so that's good enough for me. :) Great pictures!

Lol@ about the "free" part. I am glad that a nice time was had by all. Plus I am a fan of all things unconventional, so good for you guys going outside the box.The pics are great and I am a fan of the butterfly too *wonders if I could get away with that*
Enjoy your night emoticon
