Working on the inside to help with the outside

Saturday, October 20, 2012

I'm rereading chapter 5 of Full Filled by Renee Stephens and there were so many takeaways:

Here is an amazing quote:

"The only lasting reason to prefer healthful food, healthful exercise, and a healthful lifestyle is that they all make you feel great. Eating and behaving in a way that makes you feel fantastic communicates to your subconscious mind that you are worthy of great self-care, the surefire way to stay slim and healthy for life." (pg 204)

I fully agree with this. When I eat delicious, healthy foods and exercise, I feel amazing and this is far better than any other option. It's actually the easiest way to live.

Here is another quote that I'm trying to take in fully:

"Everything I'm telling you about what foods to eat doesn't matter unless you've done the inside-out part of the weight-release journey. Unless you've ...resolved your inner conflict, unless you've replaced your limiting beliefs...with empowering beliefs, what you eat really doesn't matter..The real answer lies in changing your mind-set about food from the inside out." (pg 206)

I know this all too well! What I eat, when I eat, if I work out, etc. are all important behaviors, but unless I truly resolve the reasons I turned to food in the first place and develop unconditional self-acceptance, my issues will not go away. So for me, this is the big picture focus. Further, when I feel at peace with myself, not only do I want to take care of myself, but I'm happier and more loving to those around me.

    Thought provoking... thanks for sharing.

Once I started working on my inner couch potato is when I started to see real & lasting improvement.

Also, I like this "Further, when I feel at peace with myself, not only do I want to take care of myself, but I'm happier and more loving to those around me.". I think it puts to rest another excuse we all use - that doing beneficial things for ourselves is selfish. The truth is, I think, that when we strive to make ourselves better everyone around us benefits.

Thanks for sharing these quotes. Our internal journeys and progress are just as, if not more, important than what goes on outside. They help keep us focused on our motivations for wanting to lose weight and stay healthy and go a long way in making everything else happen. You're doing so well and I know that you'll only continue to grow and be successful.

I liked this! Thanks for sharing.

Interestingly, even after over 40 days binge free and without soda, or sweets, I am not feeling any real difference in my body, but the freedom I have in my brain is immense!
