The past couple of days I’ve been getting a start on my “bike around the world” goal that I announced in the early-morning hours on Wednesday.
It’s not much yet, and that’s to be expected given my level of fitness, but I’m on my way.
Each time I bike I will be logging my miles on my SparkPage under the “my goals” section of my profile.
So far this is what I’ve logged:
Goal: 24,901 miles
Distance biked so far: 9.01 miles
Given that I am starting this world-wide journey at 359.8 pounds, I imagine I’ll pick up momentum as the pounds come melting off.
In that department, so far SparkPeople has me off on the right track as I’ve lost 15.6 pounds in the last 5 weeks, according to my TOPS (Taking Off Pounds Sensibly) weigh-in information. I weigh myself both daily at home and once weekly at TOPS meetings.
Anyway, I weighed in at the meeting on Thursday night and won a charm for reaching the 20-pounds off milestone from my initial weight. The charm was a pair of sneakers.
I’m up for a charm next week too if I take off more weight this week. That will be for six weeks of continuous weight loss.
Anyway, the support I get here combined with the applause, hugs and comments I get at TOPS is exhilarating.
I haven’t told anyone in my TOPS group yet about my “bike around the world” goal, but I can hardly wait. I haven’t been this excited about something in quite some time. I just feel compelled to share the news with anyone who will listen.
And with that, here’s to staying “Sparked!”
This is a picture of me taken on Thursday.
