One flight up or two flights down.

Friday, October 19, 2012

In the mid 1970's a friend of mine wrecked on his dirt bike and I ended up going to the emergency room with him at West Virginia University. While there, I noticed a sign on the elevators that said, "If you are going up 1 floor or down 2 floors, please take the stairs."

I don't believe I have ever seen such a sign again but I have never forgot it. And I walked a lot of stairs today because of it!

Must be a hospital thing. We used to have signs like that in the hospital I worked in. Great idea!

What a great sign. I always get a kick out of seeing people at the fitness center working their tail off and then riding the elevator to go up one floor (or driving a couple of blocks to get to the fitness center).

I remember those signs. I think it was to help conserve energy. President Carter did an Oval Office chat, urging us to wear sweaters and turn down the thermostat.

Great sign. I followed this advice for many years but have had to give it up due to knee problems.
