About My Brother...

Friday, October 19, 2012

For all my friends who have been praying and supporting me while caring for my brother, I wanted to let you know that the doctor told me this morning that his scan was not good. He could continue to do chemo, but it will only detract from his quality of life with little likely benefit, and the other option is no treatment and likely feeling better and being able to do things he enjoys for the nex...t few months. While I do believe in miracles and will continue to hope for that, I want to be practical as well - as I see death as but a transition to something better. I ask you to pray that his remaining time is peaceful and happy, that his pain is minimal, and that he is able to enjoy every minute he has left. Further, I ask you to pray for my physical and mental strength; pray for wisdom that I will speak the right words that will prepare him for this next journey, will give him hope for whatever comes; and for continuing joy as we walk through this time together. Thank you.

I will keep you and your brother tucked into my thoughts and prayers. May God give you the strength and patience each day as your brother progresses towards eternal peace.

These final months will become the most treasured times you have together. Enjoy each one, laugh and live them to the fullest that you are able.

I am so sorry to hear that you got difficult news from his doctor. You are right that death is a transition from this place to our next, but that doesn't make it easy. Sending up a ton of good thoughts and prayers for your brother and for you and your family.
Much love and peace to you both.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I think it's hardest when it's a person from our own age group that is facing death. I have a cousin who is like a brother to me whose cancer is back and this time it's on his spine. There's a lot of pain and the prognosis is not optimistic. It is so sad to lose someone I love to this. I'm sure your brother knows you love him and that you would take the suffering if you could. Good thoughts heading your way.

oh honey....I will pray and send good wishes. It is a hard thing to do. We just did it with my brother-in-law. :( At the very end though, you could see that HE could see something other than the room we were in. The peace and joy on his face were....I don't even think I have the words....beautiful? amaziing? especially after months of pain etched on his face. You and your brother will be in my prayers. xoxo
