What’s has worked for me so far?
Tracking my food has been the biggest help for me. Being honest about what I am eating, and how much I am putting in my mouth has helped me lose 19 lbs so far.
Other things I have accomplished:
I can run 5K in 35 minutes (started at 40+ minutes)
I have committed to working out at least 5 days a week (started at 3-4 days per week)
I have increase my Fruit and Veggie intake to 5-7 per day (started at 3-4 per day)
I have increase my water intake to 8+ glasses per day (started at 4-6 per day)
I know I could not have done this without the help of SP, and this great community that keeps me coming back everyday.
Three things I want to change and focus on moving forward?
1) Salt Intake
I have been monitoring my salt in take for a month, and wow. I went over my sodium intake 17 days, and I never added extra salt to any of my meals. All this excess salt is coming from processed food. Therefore, my challenge is to work on keeping my salt intake in check and reduce the amount of process food I eat.
2) Challenging Myself
I have never really had an issue with exercising, but I know I can push myself a little more. I am challenging myself to being able to complete the following exercises by February:
- Run 5K in 33 minutes
- 30-second side plank
- 1 minute plank
- 100 jumping jacks
Yoga is great for developing your flexibility, strength, and balance. I have tried a few yoga videos but have never felt comfortable doing the workouts. I want to challenge myself to completing at least one yoga workout per week to help strengthen my core and improve my balance.
