I can do cartwheels!

Wednesday, October 17, 2012

Wow feeling pretty good right now and just feel the need to write it down. I ran my first 5K at the end of September. It was a fun run so wasn't timed but I felt awesome that I actually ran the whole thing when I could have blended in and walked here and there. I got home from the run and immediately started looking online to find my next 5K! I guess I liked the feeling of accomplishment and want to find a run that will have official timing for my next challenge.

I've been sticking to the routine of bootcamp at lunch time 3 days a week and personal training/running on the other days. Today at bootcamp the trainer told us to do cartwheels as part of our warm up. I can't even remember the last time I did a cartwheel or attempted one even, so I was a bit nervous! I DID A BUNCH OF THEM!!!

Thanks Chuck. I am looking to sign up for the Shamrock Run this year too! I contemplated the warrior dash but decided maybe getting a few more 5K's and even a 10K might be the better way to keep my confidence going.

Perhaps we could meet sometime and do some jogging!

Good for you. I did the same thing after my 1st 5K. I found 4 more plus the Warrior Dash (almost killed me). I have had to lay off for almost a year because of knee and shoulder issues. Plan to start training again to do the Shamrock Run, Race for the Roses, and First Run. (all in Portland OR.)
Never did cartwheels for warmup. All my reading tells me to train by walking or jogging for 5 to 10 min. before a run.
Good luck to you with the upcomming 5K's.
