My Tuesday was GOOD!!

Why was my Tuesday good? Because I RAN - yay! I have run very little since I injured my knee a month ago - I've been afraid of making it worse. Its gotten a lot better but is still sore. However I am signed up for a half marathon on Thanksgiving Day and another on Dec 1 so I felt I had to find out how running would effect it. I ran most of 4 miles and some of two more, came in for breakfast, then walked another 3.9 miles. My knee was pretty sore by the time I was done but a trip to my chiropractor did a lot of good and today it is no more sore than it was to begin with. I'm counting that as a win!!

We are planning a couple of three day hiking trips (leaving Sunday and returning Tuesday for the first one, leaving the following Monday returning Wednesday for the second one) so I'll hold off until after that second trip to try again. But at least I know I CAN run relatively pain free - that's good to know! My niece Sherry is coming to Atlanta to run the Thanksgiving Day half with me and we'd already planned a walk/run strategy. So now I feel reasonably confident that I'll be able to do it.

On to my goals for October:

ST every day (one break day per week allowed) - work one body part a day - at least 90 reps total. I did 150 reps of core - that's GOOD for me as core is the hardest ST for me and I often stop at 90!

Cardio - at least 60 minutes 6 days a week. In all I got in 233 cardio minutes.

Nutrition - continue to increase the fresh vegetables and fruit in my meals while eating less animal products and processed foods. This was my best freggie day to date - I got in 14 servings!!

Life is GOOD - even with a sore knee!!

    The hikes sound like a lot of fun. So happy for you finding out you can still run. I love your final thought. I borrowed it. Your background flowers are the same picture I used when I first came to SP. I really like it. I switched to a picture of my mother's day geranium.

    So far we haven't done any backpacking but its on our minds! What we are doing on both these hikes is staying in a cabin in the park. The one Sunday is in Cloudlands State Park in Northwest Georgia; the one the following week is in Cheaha State Park in Heflin, AL (actually closer to us than the GA park.) This will be our first experience staying in State Park cabins - I'll let you know how it is!!

Your Tuesday walk/run was outstanding and what a relief to know you could get it done. Congratulations!

You'll have to give more info on your hikes! We love to hike but have never done more than day trips so I am intrigued. Do you backpack overnight?

Congrats on your Tuesday goals -- you didn't just meet them, you blew right past them!
