Thursday we left Marlinton and drove to Camp Cheerio at Roaring Gap, NC. I have a quilt retreat there every year and it is beautiful. The drive was lovely, even though the colors aren't quite as bright in NC yet.
The husband of one of my friends painted a picture of me. Please note my sewing machine has a Harley motor.
The views are spectacular every year. I don't know how we get any sewing done.
But we do get some sewing done and have show and tell, play some games, and have some short classes and demonstrations.
We made pillowcases
Tea Bag wallets (or can be used for credit cards)
Gift box ornaments
And learned another 9-patch transformation technique
Saturday brought our annual quilt show.
We have a tradition of making a quilt to leave at the camp. This year we made one that was inspired by the view of the riding ring from our work space in Sloan Center.
This is the view
and this is the quilt
We are already working on the retreat for 2013 and I am ready for it.
We had quilters from across the US and Kristene came from Australia. She rode home with us and spent 3 days seeing my neck of the world before flying to Arkansas to visit other friends. More on that next time.
Life is good.
