Due to various interruptions, we have not done much cycling this year. But we did go to WV and ride the Greenbriar Trail before by Quilt Retreat this month. We stayed in the Old Clark Inn B&B in Marlintin.
Tuesday morning was cool and drizzly, but we headed north up the trail to Cass.
The colors are just changing, and the views are beautiful.
We went through one tunnel that required us to turn on our lights.
The river is just the perfect backdrop for leaf peeping.
There are a lot of hikers along the trail and camp sites with water pumps are provided about every 12 miles.
We made it to Cass and the end of the trail. There is a RR museum in town, but we didn't visit it. We had to ride back to Marlinton and I was getting tired.
The sun had come out by the time we were headed back to Marlinton and it was warmer. The colors seemed to just pop out and the trail was fabulous.
After riding 49.8 miles, we arrived back at Marlinton happy, tired, and hungry. A quick clean up of the bikes, a shower for us, then off for dinner at the Greenbriar Gill and Lodge. The restaurant is located right on the river and has excellent sandwiches. I do recommend the Ruben.
Wednesday we rode south to Seebert. There is more development toward the south, but the views are just lovely.
It was only 21.6 miles to Seebert and back, but that was enough for me.
Thursday is off to Roaring Gap NC and Camp Cheerio for my quilt retreat. Pics to follow.
Life is good.
