Another hurdle to leap over.....

Sunday, October 14, 2012

Haven't been here 'cause I have been real sick AGAIN. Wound up in the ER yesterday for several hours, and was diagnosed with acute exacerbated asthma. Ugh, had this as a kid and thought I had licked it, especially since I quit smoking. So they put me on 4 times a day breathing treatments, prednisone and a proventil in haler, and taking Sudafed to dry up my sinuses. My chest hurts and the dr says it is because of the inflammation in my lungs, I still have my cold and ears hurt anmd I don't sleep well with all the coughing.
But I looked up some info online, and I do know there are famous athletes who have asthma. That is my goal, to manage it and get back to normal. Will be doing yoga daily till I am stronger, will start that today at least 30 minutes.
I also read that obesity makes asthma worse, so I will be actively being consistent with that. My eating all went to hell when I was so sick. But No more, that scared me yesterday.
I am sorry of the depressing post, am still weak and shaky, just need prayers, thanks.

I have asthma and know what you are going through. EVery time I get a cold I have to really take care of it so that I don't end up with bronchitis or whatever. It's the prednisone that is making you jumpy probably. The first time I took it for pneumonia I called 911 because I thought I was having a heart attack. My BP was something like 199/100. It was awful. I now keep some advair on hand so when my breathing starts to tank I start on that for about a month until things even out again.

Take care and let your body heal. My prayers are with you today.

I don't find this depressing at all. You've found out some good information to support your efforts. You have fantastic motivation to take your health really seriously and eat in accordance with that. Research shows that people who have health reasons to change their eating are more successful in the long run than those who do it for cosmetic purposes. I'll bet they are happier with moderate results, too. I look forward to your returning to an active life.
