5% Challenge--week 1

Saturday, October 13, 2012

I did manage to drink most of the water required for this challenge. I am still not getting much exercise into my routine. I guess I really don't like it! Sounds like a little girl who won't eat her peas! (I don't like them either). Anyway, I have been doing better at tracking my nutrition and am happy to report a 1.5 pound loss. Let's go DAISIES!

As far as "exercise" goes I hate it too ... but I do love to play. To me skiing, riding, skating don't count as exercise because I'm having way too much fun to think about it. My advice to everyone who struggles with activity is find something you enjoy and just - play.

Congratulations!!! One of the things that helped me learn to like exercise was actually a book I read--Such a Pretty Fat by Jen Lancaster. It was the first weight-loss memoir I'd read, and she is definitely not a happy camper while she's doing it, but it's hilarious and I thought the sections describing her workouts were so good and really inspirational. Every time I go to the gym I think of her. You'll find something that works for you--just stick with it. Good luck :)

This was a tough week for me, just into a new job, totally new schedule, etc. As a singer, I always get my water in, and I did the best I could with fitness. I'm learning to sneak it in, such as stretching while watching online training courses, using one break to walk either in the halls or outside. This morning I talked with my mom on the phone for 25 minutes, walking around the house the whole time. I had to keep reminding myself not to sit down, but thinking of the extra fitness minutes kept me moving. Figure out things you can do while doing something else, like calf raises while brushing your teeth, a few wall pushups every time you pass a certain wall. emoticon emoticon

You're doing great! I started out small in the exercise department, but the more consistent I became and the changes I started to see have inspired me to do more and more all the time! You can do it! Just "Push That Tush"!!!! as Sheryl says! emoticon

emoticon I too have not been able to do much exercise due to an injury, but had downward progress with the scale this week. I think it's healthier to exercise, at least walk, but you don't have to kill yourself!! emoticon
