Alright, two homework assignments in one blog.
First up is BLC - Three things I love about myself. This will have several days of posting, so first up we'll go physical features. 1) I love my eyes. Thus part of the reason I want contacts or the ability to not wear corrective lenses at all, cause I feel the glasses hide my eyes. 2) Another feature I like about myself is my hair. I sport the classic ponytail most days, but also try to mix it up sometimes. Sometimes, I try to do styles that seem a little more out there. Mom didn't really like that too much growing up. 4) I also like my smile. That's probably what I get the most comments on, cause I'm one of those people that are always smiling. 4) If you were to ask my hubby, he would say my boobs. (yeah, i know, he's a guy...he has to say that...)
Okay, the other assignment is for CoHP. We're supposed to talk about our goals, short and long term, along with steps to achieve and rewards. Well, my long term goal is obviously to be at my goal weight/size. Other goals include races to run and milestones to reach along the way. Weight wise, my next goal is going below 163, size wise to fit into a 14. I've got two races this month so obviously there are goals of finishing those two, possibly with better times that previous ones. I also have future races I toss around in my head, including a half-marathon at Disneyland, along with a 10K, 8K, Triathlon, and bike races. Nothing totally laid out in a plan format.
Steps to achieve said goals is nutrition and exercise. I have found with my body that I essentially eat four meals a day (breakfast, lunch, snack, dinner) with a possible snack after dinner depending on when I eat and other stuff. As of now, my metabolism does pretty well with the calorie range I'm at. Could I go lower? Probably. I could also cut out more sugar, but I don't really want to at this point. I enjoy having soda and candy. However, I know that I have improved from when I first started this journey and there are still improvements to be made. Another thing I figured out about my body is that I can't just focus on eating to lose weight, I have to work out as well. Unfortunately, I can't seem to be able to commit myself to a certain number of days or minutes each week, as then it becomes a chore to make sure I get my workouts in. Instead, I need to focus on making sure I am working out at a good intensity when I go. What that intensity is unfortunately is still a work in progress.
In regards to rewards, there isn't anything set up. There are several reasons for this. One is that we don't have a lot of money (living off only my salary) so money can be tight some times, so its hard to plan rewards around stuff that involve money. Another issue I've come across is that hubby has said I could sign up for races if he sees consistent working out before. Well, as stated earlier, its hard for be to commit to a number of days, so how do you define that? A third is that we haven't really found anything that really works to motivate me, and hubby is reluctant to say yes to anything, cause reaching my goal weight/size should be enough of a reward in his opinion. Having smaller goals and rewarding myself along the way is not a concept he can grasp yet.
Hmm, maybe this inconsistency with me in regards to working out and a reward system is why I've been working at this for over 2 years...
