Chinese Food 0 vs. Me 1

Friday, October 12, 2012

I won this battle fair and square...and damn I am proud of myself!!!

We got home this evening after a really long day of work, running errands and picking up my step daughter for her weekend visit. I ate a light afternoon snack but really couldn't consider it supper so by 8:00 tonight I was starting to feel hungry.

We mulled over ideas for almost a half hour as to what we could have. McDonalds, pizza, wings from Boston Pizza and Chinese Food....all the most unhealthy of choices but in the heat of the moment anything sounds better than cooking.

Something was holding me back this time though...I have had a decent week...I have made some really good steps toward more positive changes for myself and even my man has been hitting up the gym and working on his eating habits...wow!

Turned out that in the end, none of it was worth it....no matter how bad I wanted that Chinese Food that I haven't had in months and months.

Instead I decided to get a nice cold glass of water and had a snack at home to fill me up for the rest of the night...and a much healthier snack than any of the above would have turned out to be!

I am getting there...one slow step at a time, but at least it is definitely a step in the right direction!

Good choice! I use the same technique as CJCANRUN. I always have a couple quick and easy choices here that are things I eat for breakfast and lunch which usually works well for me. I love Chinese too but don't get it each time my family orders but when I do get it I get a small chicken and broccoli or egg drop soup. way to go!!! Have a great weekend!!!

Idea: Find a low-cal easy-fix meal for the future. For example, if I just don't want to do anything ever, I have frozen Morningstar Pizza Veggie Burgers (120 cal each) that I can pan fry real quick and eat within a sandwich thin, totaling 220 calories, with baby carrots as a side.

Quick, easy, hot, and yummy. I have no excuse to go out and buy garbage if I have such quick and easy meals at home.
