Breakfast for dinner very good!

Friday, October 12, 2012

Wanted to share something that really works for me when I am trying to eat light and want filling good food. When I make my main meal which I have around 2pm in the day (yes we retired folks can do that), I make myself a serving of a hot cereal and put in a corning ware dish to have later. I usually make Cream of Buckwheat, my favorite, but they don't always have it down here in Mexico, so lately it's been Oat Bran. I add a banana, vanilla, chocolate almond milk, and almonds. I add the almonds after I reheat it later in the evening. This really works for me as then it is already prepared and easy to heat up with no fuss or mess. All ready to go. I find this meal very satisfying and it is sweat with the banana and I add a little stevia.
If you have a busy life it's a quick thing to whip up and very good.
Just thought I would share.
Hope all my sparks buddies are doing great.
Make it a great day.

I do the same thing, but only with Irish Steel Cut Oats. Don't you just love it? When I used to work shift work, most times breakfast would be at supper time. I've been in that routine often and it also works for me too!
Have a wonderful day!

It's really hard to mess up breakfast - no matter when it's eaten!

I often have my oatmeal or other cereal for my mid day meal while hubby is working the day shift. It use to be my evening meal when he worked nights. It seemed to keep me on track with my weight.

I eat breakfast foods for dinner quite a bit in winter time, usually an omlett or french toast. Great comfort food on a gloomy day.

I usually have an omelet, but I might like the hot cereal too. After my very long workdays anything to eat that is quick is great.

When my DH is not around for dinner I usually have an omelette with one egg, 2 whites on top of a huge plate of Spring Mix (baby lettuces).

    A good plan!
My main meal is usually in the afternoon, with a light meal around 7pm; and like you, my meal plan may seem reversed to some people because those breakfast meals are perfect later in the day for me. Though I often have Cream of Wheat, I don't know that I've even seen Cream of Buckwheat .... Must look!!
Thanks for a blog with a nice tip... plus a touch of inspiration (hmmm... maybe I just overlooked 'buckwheat' in the aisles...)!!

Sounds wonderful!! I do a lot of oatmeal and cream of wheat. I like wheat germ and bran and my new favorite, quinoa. I've never tried cream of buckwheat. Will have to buy some. I just bought unsalted almonds today. Hadn't had any for a couple months. They are great and filling -- I just have to be careful to measure and have proper portion. I'm guessing you fix something else for hubby. We do that sometimes, too. However, usually we eat similar things, but often I have a lot of veggies and he has a spoonful while he has a lot of meat and I have a couple bites. He wouldn't want breakfast for supper because he has an egg breakfast almost every day. I could still do it. Might.

For hot breakfast I like to rototate between oat meal, cream of wheat and farina. I add raisins and a tsp of good maple syrup for sweetness. I usuall use half water and half milk to get my dairy in. I have had this at the end of day when I still had calories and needed filling up.
