Tonight has finally arrived!

Friday, October 12, 2012

I am sitting here waiting to leave for hospital. Showered and hair washed, dressed and bag packed. I can't go until 8pm to check into the hospital and I leave around 6.45 am tomorrow morning. This is the awaited sleep over for the sleep test.

It is cold here and I hope the hospital is well heated in this unseasonable weather. It should be.

I seem to have been missing in action. I think it is around 10 days since I blogged.

In that that I had a loss both weeks at my WI at WW - 2.3 this week, 1.2 last week. Not bad, and I don't know how I have done it, but I have. I even got on the scales a second time yesterday to make sure! LOL

I had a lovely day yet again yesterday having lunch after WW and shopping and ending up will well over 10,000 steps for the day. Very impressed!

I am at the moment, the leader of 2 teams, Sparkling in Oz and Weight Watchers and Spark together. I am a member of quite a few other teams. I am finding I am spending a lot of time on SP and answering emails and posting on lots of forums and not really getting any where fast!

Do other leaders find they spend a lot of time on the computer? Are you members of lots of teams, and if so, how do you manage and how much time do you spend doing so.

I have joined a challenge, and have my other challenges like drinking water, etc. etc.

Just enquiring - maybe it is my time management skills???

I am not whingeing - just curious as to what other people do, and if not a leader, how much time is spent 'sparking'.

Wish me luck in going off to sleep well tonight! I am very tired even though it is early, I have my Kindle packed and a paper book just in case they say that I can't use an electronic book, even though when I phoned, the girl said it would be ok. I will take my mobile phone, but not the iPad. Surely between the Kindle and (hopefully) a TV set, I will have enough to keep me amused and make me tired!

Happy evening to everyone.

I hope it all works out on the sleep test and you get some answers.

I've gone through a couple of changes during my time with Sparks. Initially I spent maybe an hour to two hours between leading a couple of teams, participating in several more and then answering blogs and putting nutrition and fitness in. Latterly, due to ill health in my family, I have had to pull back and now spend perhaps half an hour.

As a leader, I do find myself spending a lot of time on the computer. I seem to belong to quite a few teams that do not have other active members on them. It blows my mind that on one team of almost 800 members, I am the only one who blogs. I do not always "huddle" or do the message boards on every team every day, but I do try to check in with each team at least once per week. I am not a big tv person, so I tend to multi-task and Spark while I am sitting with the family while they are watching.

Praying you get the type of emoticon that your test needs, and that the results are informative.

Hope you sleep well, are warm and get some much needed information and treatment plan from your hospital visit!!!
I so agree with you that being a leader can take a lot of time and energy. Time management works but it takes time to do all that is required to be a leader. I have recently made a list of my goals and priorities and made sure that taking care of my health and my family are priorities over time spent on sparkpeople. One thing that helped me was making a list of what I was going to do daily on spark and then setting a timer to see how long I really spent on sparking...real eye opener. Then I thought about what was really important and downsized. We are here to get healthy and to take better care of ourselves. When spark takes to much time or causes stress than it is not meeting our get healthy goals. Wish you the best as you reevaluate...Smiles Barb

    Good luck with your test!

I don't have enough time to spend on here as I wish I did, but like to pop in every now and then.

I'm thinking about dropping from some teams because I simply don't have the time to commit to really "doing it" right.

Take care, and get some rest!

Good luck w/your sleep study and good job on the weight loss.

You know, I am a co-leader on a team and actively participate in many other communities which I enjoy. I have 3 other support groups that I run outside of SP (for ADD/ADHD, ODD, and related disorders). It eats up an inordinate amt. of time.

My solution? Delegate, delegate, delegate. You can't do it all and you NEED ME time! So, I had to learn first of all how to delegate, how to say no and prioritize. Hard? You bet. But it has helped. Still on the net way too much, but lots less than previously.

    Hope that helps.

Hope all goes well with the sleep test. As for how much time is spent on Sparking I allow myself about 1 1/2 hours a day. Can't do any more than that and have a life. Sometimes I do it all in a morning, other times I split it up into segments of 15 minutes here 15 minutes there. Wishing you much success in your endeavors!
