I made it. I made it through the first round for Texas Rollergirls tryouts.
There were 60+ girls there. 26 were picked for the next round, and I'm one of them. I'm in a group with fellow rec league members, and with derby veterans who are transferring from other leagues. I saw some crazy raw talent last night and I'm amazed that I was one of those chosen to keep going.
I have 6 weeks to prove myself. League members will be watching and listening to everything. My positive attitude and willingness to work hard and not give up have gotten me this far, and I have to keep that resolve because I know it will be tested. A lot of these girls are hands down better skaters than I am, which only means that I will have to work harder and show more heart than others to really demand a spot on a team. I have to keep it balanced, and I have to keep it together.
I have to double down on my efforts.
I took a few days off from Spark going into tryouts, but I'm back now. I can't slack when it comes to fueling myself properly for this ass whooping. I have to make it through this stronger and better than ever. I'm ready.
