100 lbs. In 300 Days - Day Seventeen

Day 17.... I did a spectacular job... until supper. Then the pizza sucked me in. Happens every time. I love pizza like no other food. I don't know what it is about it. Anyone have any suggestions on how to eat pizza without being a maniac? I ate FOUR pieces. Now, I will say, in my own defense that I used to eat a WHOLE LOT more pieces than four. I certainly have toned it down, but honestly, I had to MAKE myself stop at four. And it was SUPER HARD.

On another note, I still did not exercise. *sigh* I feel like such a loser! But here is what I did do. I got up super early and went to see my gastroenterologist. So early, in fact, that AFTER the appointment, my daughter and I went out to breakfast and it was only around 8:30 in the morning. I had breakfast at First Watch where I ate their Lean Machine breakfast which was fat free scrambled eggs, a turkey sausage patty that was so good I could have devoured ten of them, four slices of tomato, and an english muffin. It was EXCELLENT. My tummy was quite happy. After that we came back home and I worked on trying to take a nap, and that did not work out. I kept getting interrupted. Then after a while I had some corn chowder and an apple and some peanut butter for lunch. Then I attempted to take another nap, as I was really tired! No luck. More interruptions. I spent the evening studying for my Anatomy Quiz and ended up eating too much pizza. *sigh* Oh well.

Something I want to write about tonight is WATER! I've been drinking a whole bunch of water lately and I have learned some interesting things about it. Here they are:

1. I love the fact that I can drink as much water as I want with no calories. That makes my meal much better.

2. My skin is changing! I have absolutely NO acne and my skin feels sooooo silky and smooth. That happened the last time I started drinking a lot of water too.

3. If I drink a glass of water before, a glass of water during and a glass of water after my meal, I feel good and full when I'm done eating. I did not heed this advice with the pizza and look where it got me! I was up all night with reflux.

Soooo drink your water, kiddies! It does a body good! Gearing up for the weekend. Hope yours is wonderful. I sure do have a lot on my agenda!

Peace and love to all,
Lisa
Me at the end of a very long day!

I know how it goes with the pizza. That was my go-to food in my previous life, and I still get cravings for it from time to time. However, I just remind myself what I'm able to do with my "new" body that I wasn't able to do with the "old" one.

Hang in there! It took me 286 days to lose 100 pounds...just stay focused and you're there! :)

We have given up Pizza and replaced it with flatbread. We use a premade pizza dough from the grocery isle (but you could make your own) spread it out thin...bake it then add a skim of mayo, fresh chopped tomato, cheese, fresh basil, salt, and rebake until it to a melty goodness. You could have had 4 slices of that and only had maybe 1/4 the calories and it is SO GOOD that I *gasp* actually prefer it to pizza now. With a fresh tossed salad it makes a nice light meal.

Hugs.

My suggestion for pizza: Plan your pizza days. Cut back a bit on snacks during the day. Go to the pizza maker's website and find the nutrition info, and put it in your SparkPeople food tracker BEFORE you eat. You'll quickly see how many slices you can have without busting your calorie budged for the day. (For me it's usually 3 slices.)

Important pizza note: The big enemy in pizza isn't necessarily calories, it is sodium! On pizza nights, drink lots and lots of water, and watch your sodium intake carefully for other meals that day.

Also think about toppings: For example, black olives add both calories and lots of sodium, where mushrooms offer little of either. A few judicious choices can make a big difference in the end.

Pizza nights are possible while losing weight as long as you plan ahead!

A couple of years ago my husband and I would buy say 3 pizzas from Caesars because you can get them for $5 each... well that would equal 1 LG for each of us and 1 for our kids to share.... Not a good thing, right? Sooo we started cutting back, buying only 2 whether its restaurant or store bought, so I can see where you're coming from because I've been there myself...

Now, as for helping... perhaps a nice leafy salad with lots of veggies and a light dressing, or a light broth or soup.

Most important is to take it one day at a time.
