Thursday already?? Wow this month is rushing by!!

Thursday, October 11, 2012

You know, I thought once I retired time would S L O W > > > D O W N! I thought it was how busy I was while working and doing everything else that had to be done that kept time moving at such a fast pace. Sadly it hasn't slowed down at all, if anything its picked up! I figure that is God's way of telling me to enjoy each and every minute of life - and that is just what I'm doing!! Life is GOOD - don't forget to count your blessings because WE ARE SO BLESSED!!

On to my goals for October:

ST every day (one break day per week allowed) - work one body part a day - at least 90 reps total. Yesterday I allowed myself a day off. It was my first in a week and a half - I was feeling very tired after my 5.3 mile walk so I listened to my body and went to bed early (after walking Boudreaux of course - dogs are more important than tiredness!)

Cardio - at least 60 minutes 6 days a week. I got in 129 minutes of cardio between my two walks.

Nutrition - continue to increase the fresh vegetables and fruit in my meals while eating less animal products and processed foods. Had 11 servings of freggies!

Here is my thought for the day - I LOVE this!

I left work in 2008 (at age 53) because of a medical problem and decided not to return to work when it was under control. Never looked back! Each day is filled with so many interesting things AND I have time to take care of my home and husband without stress. Love it!

Much like you, travel, walking, hiking, running, spending time with the Grands, spending time with friends - FUN things!! Macchu Picchu is on our bucket list too - I must check out the Road Scholars thing!!

I am SO WITH YOU! My husband was starting to nag me about quitting and I finally did quit my FT teaching job in May 2011. But I was so insecure about quitting altogether that I continued to teach a 60% load online until May 2012. NOW I wonder what took me so long!

Traveling is #1 on our list, although I try to have something "fun" planned each month. In November we will do a half marathon in Tulsa and go camping at a wonderful state park over Thanksgiving. In December we are taking a cruise, and in January we will go to Mobile, AL for another half marathon! We're thinking about hiking part of the Appalachian trail with a program called Road Scholars (www.roadscholar.org) and would like to find time in 2013 to hike the Incan Trail to Macchu Picchu.

What keeps you busy in retirement??
