I GOT 4 HOURS SLEEP!

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

I know 4 hours may not seem like a big deal to most people but this is the first time in about 9 months that I have gotten 4 hours of solid sleep. I feel really good today . I feel like I got stuff done around the house before work . So this is what Idid to get the girl to sleep. *WARNING* it may be offensive to some people.
so after months of trying everything setting schedules, making routines, using a pacifier, making sure she ate well during the day, making sure she didnt sleep all day, trying to do stimulating things all day, letting her cry it out ( up to 8 minutes was all I could handle) I said you know what I didnt have this problem with my other kids Im going to do what I did with them and what my grandmother did for me. I put a T of oatmeal in some formula mixed it well with a spoon then put it in the microwave for 20 seconds then stired it again then put it in the fridge for bedtime. william got it out at 8 warmed it up and feed her 1/2 of it about 4 oz she went to sleep as she always does she woke up around 10 like she normally does and he gave her the other 1/2 she then did not wake up till 3 am I gave her a regular bottle of formula she went right back to sleep and slept until 8 am. I got to sleep from a little after 3 until a little after 7 giving me a full 4 hours of sleep. and when I say this is the first time in 9 months I truly mean it. I couldnt sleep the last few months of pregancy due to being uncomfortable. after I had the baby via c-section it was 3 weeks before i could even roll over onto my side I was in so much pain and i was breastfeeding so up every 2 hours doing that and when i wasent feeding i was pumping. when I went to work I stopped breastfeeding and thought formula alone would cause her to sleep better no such luck most nights she was up every 2 hours sometimes as much as every hour . The other night it was obvious this was not only affecting us not getting sleep but she also was getting aggravated she wanted to sleep but couldnt she was uncomfortable and always wanting night feedings. she had her eyes closed the whole time she would eat she was so tired . so I plan to continue and hopefully she will start sleeping better. I only give her the cereal at bedtime . with my son it seems like I only had to do this for 2 weeks and he started sleeping though the night and didnt need the cereal it was just to get them use to the routine.
On to diet I had no idea hardees chicken biscuit was so many calories. I love hardees biscuits I think they are the best well now I know why they are full of calories. I really broke my diet today with that . And we worked on the kitchen most of the day so I didnt even get a chance to get on the treadmil.
Today we got the counter top on the island cabinet done. RIght now it is my favorite thing in the kitchen I got a butcher block look. We loved it so much we are doing it to the other counter top. also got the base boards put on. and now we are at a standstil will have to wait until william is off work on monday to go to lowes and get some more stuff.
I did work on the quilt a little today . Got another order for a baby blanket. Im glad to keep getting orders. it started out she wanted a keepsake quilt but then changed her mind and wants a sponge bob now and the keepsake latter.
work has been good I went out in the plant today. They do not like to see me out there. I check saftey stuff like if they have there ear plugs in or if they are eating candy or chewing gum. any hazards. I always find people without ear plugs in. big no no. People dont care about there health I keep trying to warn them it may not be a big deal now but when you get older you will wish you took better care of yourself.

Sleep deprivation is such a challenge when you have a little one. Take good care of yourself and get as much rest as possible. I used to put cereal in my son's bottle at night to help him sleep too - it's an age-old tried and true trick. Can't blame the poor little onefor being hungry - I know I get that way when I'm on a liquid diet too. LOL!

Don't feel bad about putting a little oatmeal in with the formula, there isn't anything wrong with it and good for you for getting 4 hours of sleep!!!!!!!!!!!! I know it doesn't sound like much , but when you have a little one that won't let you sleep its like sleeping a whole day...
The baby obviously was telling u that what ever he was getting wasn't enough for him to keep him satisfied so hey it was his way of letting u know mommy I'm still hungry!
I use to put 1 1/2 teaspoons and my son slept a little longer for me and believe it was tough cause I worked a full time job at the time and my hubby worked nights and at the time I was going to school after work so I needed my sleep.
Don't let anyone make you feel guilty either, you did the right thing!
I hope you get more sleep and the baby too!
God Bless ! emoticon
