Why isn’t it as good as I want it to be?

I attended an admin lunch today. I was somewhat blindsided, I’d been informed that I had to attend but had completely forgotten about it.
Interestingly enough, I’d just read a Spark board about taking a “splurge” day. I figured I could relax for one meal. The food was good, especially for a catered buffeted. But at the end we each got a slice of cake. It was a white cake, with white frosting and sprinkles and from across the room looked absolutely delicious. I figured I’d go for it.
The first bite tasted stale, the second was worse. The frosting was bland and had less flavor then whipped cream. And despite the stale flavor and texture, the bottom of the cake was soggy.
I was rather disappointed. If I’m going to blow calories, I want to do it on something that tastes as good as it looks.
But the big down side, is now I have a serious craving that keeps resurfacing. I guess I got my taste buds all set for a decedent treat and they don’t count two bites of awful cake as a treat.
