A Better Outlook For My Husband

Wednesday, October 10, 2012

For those of you who follow my blogs you know that my husband filed for disability and was denied three times. Well, we got him in today with a new doctor. What a refreshing visit. This doc actually took an interest in my husband and said he would see what he could do to get the disability for him. The doc did some blood work and even poked and prodded him. the old doc very seldom touched my husband. This doc found all my husband's tender spots, something we have been complaining about for over a year with the old doc. He seemed interested in all of his complaints and physical ailments. We asked for a mental evaluation for my husband's memory and focus issues and the doc took care of it. The doc said my husband did need to use the C-PAP. The doc gave us some new prescriptions to try for 2 weeks...Adderall for narcolepsy and something for sleep at night. Seems like a contradiction in uses to me, but we will try it. Something to wake you up and then something to make you sleep????? This doc asked to see my husband again in two weeks. The old doc would tell us not to come back for 6 months!! Some difference. OF course this info today was not without cost. Between the office visit, labs and medications the bill ran me over $200. the mental eval will run $600. Thank goodness for credit cards. I can't pay this price all the time but I was willing to do it today to get some new information. I am feeling much more positive about our next time filing for disability. We will probably try again next year.

I went thru a lot getting on disability for a broken neck and back. I finally got on because I am Bipolar. My advise to you is get a disability lawyer. You don't have to pay him he will get your husband back payments and take a percentage of that. I haven't known many who have gotten disability without it. Good luck.

Sorry you are going through all of this. My grandson just got approved after 4 years. He has RSD/CRPS and he is having surgeries to release nerves and muscles which are supposed to release the pain. Hope the new doctor has some answers.

I hope everything works out for you and your husband. On top of the physical problems all the stress of this is not good for you either.
Take care!

Sorry to hear you don't have insurance. We went through a similar thing this spring with my wife as she has type 2 diabetes, high bp, and had severe clots in her legs. Her employer denied her disability so she ended up going back to work this fall. Not happy but there isn't alot we can do. I hope you have better luck this time around.
