Spooky Spiders BSG Week 2 Blog #2 - Keeping Focus

Tuesday, October 09, 2012

It has taken me a while to achieve the place where I am today with my focus and seeing results. I found this motivational quote from Denis Waitley and it really struck me that I have finally achieved the best of the two choices and I am accepting responsibility for changing the things I need to change.

So, if you think that you can't do it or that you aren't doing it fast, I will point out to you that I have been stuck in the 160ville for at least 3 years, but while the scale wasn't moving I was still being successful in making changes and all of those changes finally came together at the same time.

I still am not seeing fast results, but I am seeing results. I belong to a a couple of fitness groups on Facebook and there is an ongoing challenge also. People post their workouts there and I believe that has truly helped me to keep my focus. The encouragement I receive from those people is enormous. There is one man who does about 2 to 2.5 hours daily Monday through Friday. I know that I will never be able to workout that long (nor do I wish to), but he is a true encouragement to me. Reading his posts (as well as the others) helps me to keep my focus and the courage to try new things. I have tried my friend's "billy goat" workout on the treadmill (set the incline at the highest and go) and I can do 7 minutes some days. It is a great workout. I can't do as long or as fast as he does, but I can do it.

Today's encouragement and challenge is to give a cycling class a try. With the encouragement of these friends I know that I will give it a try this winter. I may not like it and may not be able to make the entire class, but I do know that I will have the courage to try it.

So, my friends, never give up. Always believe in yourself.

Super adivce. I love the fact that you did not give up on finding what would work for you. The fact that you stuck with that search for 3 year is a great example of persevierence. I have found a good exercise system that is working for me, but I am always looking for refinements and variations. It sure keeps it from being boring.
