Let's See How Things Work Out Now

Tuesday, October 09, 2012

I saw my own doctor today and while going over my symptoms for being voiceless I brought to light new information to him. In that I can actually SING but I can't SPEAK. So now after going over my past medical history we have a possible link, my stomach. Who knew that your stomach could affect your voice? Yes the throat and stomach are connected by a tube but you don't really think about your stomach affecting your voice.

So now I am taking medication to help keep the acid production of my stomach down and we will see if that helps me to keep my voice. Never thought about it until now but while I was being treated for an ulcer I never lost my voice. One of the medications I was on at that time was an acid reducer.

I am hoping this is the missing link in my wonky voice. I don't suffer from voice tremors, nor do I have any other physical ticks so we are fairly sure it is not related to muscle control.

I never would have thought to ask if my hoarse voice could be related to my stomach if I hadn't just finished a section on the gastrointestinal system of the body in my school work.

Bonus, no more prednisone!!! I am done with my steroids (for now).
